Current Projects
His current research topic is the effects of globalization on certain aspects of Latin American culture.
Recent Publications
Bejel, a critic and writer, has published numerous books and articles on Spanish and Spanish American literature (especially Cuban) and Literary Theory. His scholarly publications deal with a variety of authors, including Lezama Lima, Carpentier, Borges, Sarduy, and Arenas; and issues, like ideology, poetics, gender transgressions, and globalization. He is the author, among others, of Literatura de Nuestra America, Jose Lezama Lima, Poet of the Image, and Gay Cuban Nation. Some of the titles of his poetry collections are Casas deshabitadas and El libro regalado. He is also the author of an autobiography entitled The Write Way Home. A Cuban-American Story.
