University of California at DavisFaculty Position in Luso-Brazilian Studies
As part of its newly-created Portuguese section, the Department of Spanish at the University of California-Davis is searching for a tenure-track Assistant professor in Luso-Brazilian literature and culture effective Fall 2008. Preferred area of specialization: literature and culture with strong interest in language pedagogy or second language acquisition. Teaching experience and a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in the field of Latin American literature and culture required. Duties include graduate and undergraduate teaching at all levels. Applicants must be fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English and should be able to teach courses such as Brazilian and Spanish American literature and culture in Portuguese and Spanish. Candidates must demonstrate a clear commitment to excellence in both research and teaching, and their willingness to actively participate in the enhancement and organization of the newly-created Portuguese section in the department.
