    Research Areas and Interests
    Although she teaches in the general Latin American field, she specializes in Mexican literature and culture from the colony to the present, including Mexican novel, Mexican poetry, Mexican culture, colonial non-fiction genre (chronicle, essay, testimonial, documentary, journalism), Sor Juana, and cultural studies. Her emphases are in narrative (fiction and nonfiction) and poetry.

    Recent Publications
    Professor Linda Egan (UC Santa Barbara) has published principally on the contemporary chronicle of Mexico and the colonial poet sor Juana Ines de la Cruz. Professor Egan's most recent work is the book Carlos Monsivais: Culture and Chronicle in Contemporary Mexico (University of Arizona Press, 2001).
