Advising

Given the great flexibility in the Spanish major, it is important that students design their programs in close consultation with their major adviser. This is especially important for students who intend to use their major as preparation for graduate study, who are planning a teaching career, or who wish to take advantage of our EAP options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I go to any of the undergraduate advisers?

Yes, you are not assigned to one individual adviser. Normally, there is 1 undergraduate faculty adviser and 1 staff adviser available each quarter for advising.

Do I need to set up an appointment with my adviser?

At the beginning of each quarter, the advisers' open office hours will be posted outside online. You may come by during the open office hours for Spanish advising. If you wish to make an appointment, you will need to contact the adviser directly either by phone or email.

How do I contact my adviser?

Contact information is available above. Contact information is updated, if necessary, before the beginning of the each quarter.

What should I do to prepare myself for my appointment?

You should come by 618 Sproul Hall and pick up information about the Spanish major and minor.
