We are pleased to announce that Mary Curtis has won a Fulbright award to Spain to fund her research into swordplay's multifaceted role in early modern Spanish discourses on masculinity and nobility. Curtis will be working under the guidance of J. Ignacio Diez Fernandez of the Universidad Complutense and her dissertation supervisor Adrienne Martin (UC Davis) as well as studying historical Spanish fencing with Alberto Bomprezzi's Spanish Association of Historical Fencing.
