The Department of Spanish & Portuguese and Univision Bay Area Jointly Awarded Regional Edward R. Murrow Award

The Department of Spanish & Portuguese and Univision Bay Area have together received one of journalism’s most prestigious honors: a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award. The Murrow Awards recognize journalism that upholds the highest ethical standards, demonstrates technical excellence, and serves the public. Our collaboration, “De no sabo a sí sé,” is a project exploring the importance of Spanish in California and the experiences of heritage speakers. This work exemplifies our commitment to extending academic knowledge beyond the university—bringing research into conversation with the broader community and making it meaningful in people’s lives.
