Undergraduate Program

Students in our undergraduate Spanish major develop their proficiency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing, and they also learn about Hispanic cultures and traditions. The university also offers students opportunities for first-hand experience with the language and Hispanic cultures through study abroad programs. To meet the needs of our diverse population, we have placement exams for students with experience with the language and an accelerated course series for native Spanish speakers. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the honors program to earn high and highest honors in Spanish at graduation.

Our undergraduate program provides a large range of opportunities for our students whether they are majoring or minoring in Spanish. In addition to a rich selection of courses, we offer opportunities for study abroad.

Upper Division Program

In their upper division courses, students explore a wide range of topics to develop a broad understanding of Hispanic language, literature, and culture. With their adviser's assistance, students can tailor their major to fit their needs, and they often combine their Spanish major with another major in the humanities, social sciences and biological sciences.
