PhD Candidates Ana Ortega Perez and Angelica Gonzalez Bastidas present at the American Association for Applied Linguistics Conference

Presenting "Plain Legal Spanish in Financial Contract: Comparing the US with Spanish-Speaking Countries.
Attending AAAL 2025 was an enriching experience. Presenting our poster on Plain Legal Language in Financial Contracts: A Comparative Study Including Spanish of the US allowed us to engage in meaningful conversations with researchers from diverse fields who share a commitment to linguistic justice. The feedback we received was very constructive and encouraging, helping us refine our approach and expand our network. It was especially valuable to see how Plain Language resonates with ongoing efforts to promote community belonging and accessibility in multilingual contexts. The conference inspired us to continue developing this kind of research that supports Spanish-speaking communities in the U.S. and abroad. Now, we are writing an article about it.
