Being the first in one's family to attend college is a major step in one's life and can be an intimidating experience - encountering a new world for which a student has not been prepared by family history. UC Davis honors its first generation students for their boldness and determination to further their education. The First Generation Initiative at UC Davis is a resource for first generation students and one of its goals is to raise awareness of these students' experiences. One of the students highlighted is the Department of Languages and Literatures' own Undergraduate Advisor, Lorenzo Zúñiga. You can read about his experience here: https://firstgen.ucdavis.edu/blog/stories/lorenzo-zuniga.
Congratulations, Lorenzo, on everything you have accomplished!
